There are many ways to organise your carpooling from dedicated websites, organisations and informally through your work, school or friends. When thinking of carpooling you should consider:
- thinking about individuals or groups of people who have similar travel needs to yours. Do you know any people who head in the same general direction (e.g. to the city) or to the same destination (e.g. your work, Uni or your children’s school)?
- the individuals or groups that are best suited to your needs. They could be found at your Uni, work, sporting groups, neighbourhood, next door or in your circle of friends.
- phone or email people directly or post notices in the workplace, school or other destination to gauge interest in forming a carpooling group.
- in a workplace situation you could host a postcode morning tea to enable staff to meet potential carpool colleagues that reside in their area.
- register with a carpooling website – a selection can be found on the Sustainable Transport Links page
